About  Olson  and  Son
 

 

When his clients ask, “Are you the Olson or the Son?”, Jim Olson responds both.  Jim founded the Company in 1989. As a young child and teen he constantly worked with his hands, whether it was taking apart and putting back together a clock to see how it worked or to creating fine woodworking pieces he never stopped tinkering.  The Olsons have been creating and working with their hands in various ways since their time in Sweden four generations ago. In the midst of building his company, he moved to New Haven Connecticut to follow his wife and her dream to become a physician. While there he had a chance to work on properties that were built in the early 1800s - this experience fueled his creativity. After leaving Connecticut those he worked with were sad to have him leave. But he was to move to San Francisco, the city his wife and him dreamed of living in since they were in high school. While in San Francisco his wife trained in obstetrics and gynecology. Jim began building his company using the skill he inherited from his family and his experiences in New England. 

     Olson and Son Renovation and Construction enjoys the challenge of creating modern work in the confines of old San Francisco; restoring the dwellings into their old world charm with the nuisances of the modern era we live.  Some examples are the 80 year old salvaged fir from a recent remodel that was then milled and used for custom kitchen drawers.
